The History of the Camping site

It was the winter of 2006/7 when we first settled down at the Catoyes. For us, the story of the place began with George, the site’s former owner, who still remains indispensable to us. The history of the place, though, began long before, when it consisted of farmlands filled with peacefully grazing herds, where work was carried out with teams of oxen, way back before there were even colour photographs. The heart of the farm’s production, the farmhouse, is still here, just as it is in this family photo from 1940. Since then, a lot of vegetation has grown up on the surrounding hills, and the trees planted at the campground site have grown taller than the guardians of the estate. Today, this place still manages to preserve all its charms while offering the visiting campers leisurely time for both quiet relaxation and conviviality in the heart of nature .
